Premium Blinds Made to Measure

QUESTION

When you’re designing a home, what is your general approach to light?

ANSWER

Natural light obviously plays an extremely important role in any interior design project. It can lift our moods and can really add to our sense of wellbeing. But that’s not to say that an entire home should be flooded with light all the time – especially here in Australia, where the light can sometimes be very intense.

When I’m designing an interior space, I think about
the different zones it includes, and how to treat light
in each of those. In bedrooms, for instance, I would
usually recommend a window covering that offers the
opportunity to completely block the light. Luxaflex®
Pirouette® Shadings
with blockout fabric, for instance,
offer a very effective way of creating tranquil spaces
for resting and sleep.

Then of course, in living areas, it can be great to
have soft and filtered light. In these more tranquil
zones, I often choose Luxaflex® Silhouette® Shadings.
Silhouette Shadings provide the appearance of a
soft shutter and are a great option especially if, like
me, you like the look of shutters in your home. These
shadings also blend seamlessly together, creating a
uniform look from the outside. Their clever, elegant
design consists of softly curved, horizontal fabric
vanes attached to a single, sheer backing.
